Day 1 of the Transect, (Day 2 at basecamp in the Jungle)
Very bad sound quality on this one, I think I held the mic too close to my face.
Transcript: Day 1 of the transect. Uhh, it was very strenuous walking. We woke up and heard the Bay Coucal, saw the Pygmy Dwarf Hornbill and heard the Red Knobbed Hornbill, as well as the haunting whistle of the Pitta. Also got white necked cuckooshrike and pied cuckooshrike. As well as various frogs, and one supposedly rare lizard, which we didn’t get a photo of unfortunately. We also heard tarsiers in the morning, and uh, possibly heard a civet cat or a jungle rat by my tent last night, it was probably a rat. It ran away when I woke up and turned my light on uhh, that would be everything that happened today. In the afternoon I read Paul Theroux and slept in my hammock. We were finished by 11 but the day went by very fast. Went for a swim in the river as well. Cleaned some clothes as well.
